Long Island City, New York, United States
Movement LIC is on 44th Drive in Long Island City, steps from Court Square station (7, E, G and M trains). It opened in 2013 as The Cliffs at LIC and now trades as Movement, like the other Cliffs gyms. The facility covers 23,600 sq ft, with walls up to 45 feet high.
Newcomers can book a 90-minute Introduction to Bouldering or Introduction to Rope Climbing class and keep climbing afterwards; belayers must pass a belay check and be at least 13. Learn to Lead, lead falling, an intermediate technique series, a cave climbing technique series, anchor building, private coaching and an adult training team cover the next steps. The gym runs an annual Lead Cave Flash Competition and hosted the Gotham Citizen round of Movement's Nor'Easter Bouldering Series in March 2026.
A fitness mezzanine has weights and cardio machines, and yoga, acro yoga and climber conditioning classes are included in membership. There are locker rooms with showers, a gear shop, bike storage and lounge areas, and the building has accessible toilets and climbing areas. Youth climbing clubs, camps and competitive teams run through the year, and the community calendar includes BIPOC, Asian Climbing Tribe, queer, 50+ and adaptive climbing nights.

“The auto-belay area here is really fun. You can absolutely come by yourself and spend 5–6 hours here, or even stay for the whole day. They also have a bouldering area and a top-rope belay area.”
“The workout area is decently sized but has a lot of solid equipment options. … The showers are also way nicer pressure wise than I expected and they have towels, shampoo, soap, etc.”
“Endless possibilities here, especially if you know how to belay. … Parking in the area is a pain on most days but a little better at night.”
