Bulgaria's indoor climbing scene ranges from large mixed-discipline centres in Sofia and Plovdiv to evening club walls in Varna and smaller regional halls. Compare bouldering, lead climbing and auto-belays separately: not every venue offers all three. The listings also flag access restrictions and uncertain operation, so check the current details before travelling to a university hall or a temporarily closed venue.

Momentum Indoor Climbing Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria

Start with the Sofia climbing guide for the capital's choices. Balkan Climbing combines roped walls, bouldering and training boards, with a published maximum wall height of 17 metres. Momentum Indoor Climbing Sofia, formerly listed under Walltopia, has 19-metre routes alongside bouldering and board training.
The Europe centres need to be compared branch by branch. Druzhba and Lyulin offer auto-belay climbing, while Bons–Europe in Studentski Grad combines predominantly bouldering with top ropes and training boards. Their passes are valid at the branch where they are bought, not automatically across the group. NSA and Sofia University's Stenata SU add further options, with the university publishing external-visitor periods around its student timetable.
Momentum Plovdiv occupies Pavilion 14 at the International Fair. It brings together lead, top rope, speed climbing and bouldering, plus training boards and a children's academy. Its published weekday and weekend hours differ, so use the Plovdiv branch's timetable rather than copying Sofia's.
Do Vurha at Plovdiv Plaza is a different kind of visit: a 26-metre climbing attraction selling attempts and hourly access. Those tariffs should not be compared directly with an unlimited gym day ticket.
Varna has distinct venues rather than one club under different names. Chudnite Skali combines lead, top rope and bouldering in the former Yuri Gagarin swimming complex. Varna Climbing is at Vladislav sports hall behind Ticha stadium, with a 13-metre wall, routes up to 17 metres long and a limited evening schedule.
Zheleznik's wall in Stara Zagora has climbing towers and a bouldering section inside the former DZU hall. Confirm current club sessions before visiting. Boulderspot in Veliko Tarnovo announced an indefinite pause from 15 June 2026 for repairs at DKS Vasil Levski. Check for a reopening announcement before travelling. Akademik in Ruse is marked temporarily closed on Google Maps; the university’s available timetable is historical. Neither should be treated as a confirmed drop-in option, or as permanently closed on that evidence alone.
Published adult entries checked in October 2026 include €7 at Varna Climbing, €7.16 at NSA, €10.23 at the Europe branches, €13.80 at Momentum's Sofia and Plovdiv gyms, and €15.25 at Balkan Climbing. Treat these as named-venue comparisons, not a national price range covering every wall. Concessions, access cards, equipment and instruction can alter the total.
For regular climbing, check whether a monthly product renews automatically or is a prepaid date-to-date pass. Momentum publishes a €61.35 standard monthly subscription with a €30.67 joining fee; Europe’s €68.52 monthly passes are prepaid and branch-specific. Varna Climbing publishes a €40 adult month, while NSA’s unlimited adult month is €33.23. These products have different access and instruction conditions. Beginners should arrange any required induction or coaching, and parents should check age and supervision rules directly.
Gym calendars can offer a reason to travel beyond the nearest wall. The autumn 2026 programme includes senior speed and lead championships split between Momentum Sofia and NSA, social and film events at Balkan Climbing, and the open Odesos Boulder Cup at Chudnite Skali in Varna. Newer announcements also include a 21 October Quantum Board session at Momentum Plovdiv, a dynamic-movement workshop at Momentum Sofia on 7 November, and Balkan Boulder Battle on 5 December. Check the organiser’s live programme for registration, eligibility and changes before booking travel.
