Welcome to Best Climbing Walls!

So … why are we doing this? Well, Best Climbing Walls is a huge passion project started by two friends. We happen to like climbing a little too much. So much, that, every time we go somewhere new, we want to check out every wall we can.

We came to realise that finding out what you want to about climbing walls can be a little tricky… if using the good ol’ Google search. The little Google boxes don’t always have the best images - and finding out if a wall is dog friendly, has a nice cafe, or assessing the quality of training equipment available can be nigh impossible - even for our partners in crime who happen to be expert detectives.

This problem is even worse when you go abroad. As Englishmen, we have a hard time asking for the bill in restaurants abroad, nevermind trying to find out whether the members-only bouldering palace in Prague has a fingerboard, whilst reading in Czech.

Talking to our friends, we realised we weren’t the only ones facing this problem. So we set out on a quest to find a cool website or something we could frequently use to solve it. Short story is… There wasn’t one. Luckily, one of us is quite good with the old interwebs… (he handles the techy bits about as well as Ondra handles rocks) so we decided to chalk up and get it send it ourselves.

Our lofty ambition is to become the best resource for climbers to quickly find the key information about walls, without having to scrape the entire internet to do so. We also hope to empower facility owners with data and stats, so they can make better choices about their facilities, whilst also helping them spread the word about their work.

Like so many, we’re proud to be a part of this community and are excited to see it grow. We recognise the task ahead isn’t going to be easy, but if our site can make even the smallest contribution to the growth of our sport, we’ll be pretty chuffed. So yeah. That’s a bit about us and we’re we are headed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I register my climbing wall on your site?

Absolutely. Our goal is to eventually list as many climbing walls, and gyms, worldwide, as possible. We strive to maintain the most complete and feature rich database around, and we’re going to need all the help we can get to make that dream a reality. If your wall or gym isn’t listed on our site, or if you’d like access to our tool so you can manage your own listing, please drop us a line on our contact form and we’ll gladly help.

Are there any fees associated with managing my own wall/gym on your site?

At the moment, nope! We’re still in the early days of building out all the functionality to make the site as friendly as possible for climbers, and as feature rich for owners as possible. Whilst we’re building everything out, we won’t charge a penny for managing your listing. In the future, we might charge a small fee for access to certain features and information, but it’s our intention to keep the most important tools completely free for all owners, forever.

How frequently is the site updated?

We’re updating the site daily! At least trying to. Did you know there’s over 20,000 climbing walls in the world? It’s no small task adding & updating them all, that’s for sure. If you spot some information that’s out of date or could use a little sprucing up, please let us know at [email protected] or contact us via our websites form.

I’ve spotted an issue with the site, where do I raise the feedback?

Thanks! We’ve tried our best to make sure any bugs are squashed, but cannot always find them by ourselves. Please send in details of the issue via our contact form.

Can I write a guest blog for your site?

Absolutely. We love hearing from wall owners and brands and welcome any guest content to our blog. If you have some information you think the climbing community would love to hear about then please send it our way via our contact form. We can’t promise we’ll post everything, but we’ll certainly give it a good read!

Can I advertise my climbing brand on your site?

Unfortunately we don’t have any space allocated on the site for ads right now. But if you’re interested in being one of the first to trial that out with us when it drops, please give us a message over at our contact form.
