Bouldering halls
Arkose Canal, on the Allée Verte by the canal, is the Brussels hall of the French chain Arkose: a 2,800 m² venue with more than 200 problems reset every week, a kids' space, a yoga and Pilates studio and a plant-based canteen with a rooftop, open until midnight every day. A short walk away, BLDR Maritime fills a timber pavilion inside the Gare Maritime at Tour & Taxis, with walls up to 4.5 metres and QR-code entry from 06:00 to 23:00.
Petite Île opened in November 2018 as the city's first bouldering gym, on the third floor of a building in Anderlecht about a kilometre from Gare du Midi, with a café serving vegetarian food. À Bloc, near Place Meiser in Evere, followed in 2021 with a craft-beer bar; trams 7 and 25 stop nearby.
In Ixelles, one team runs three halls about a kilometre apart, and one pass covers them all. Le Camp de Base, in a former garage on the Chaussée de Boondael since 2022, has a spray wall, a Güllich board, a sauna and a bar, and doesn't admit under-12s. Le Camp Avancé, opened in 2026, is a training hall with competition-style problems, a Kilter Board and three spray walls, but no shoe hire. Le Camp d'Approche is for beginners and families, with a toddlers' wall, a bouldering area, 16 ropes up to 6 metres and four auto-belays.
South-west of the city, the municipal Wildersportcomplex – Boulderzaal in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw is booked online for €12 a session.
Rope climbing
Terres Neuves, near the Place Rouppe and Anneessens metro station, has 12-metre walls (18 metres of climbing on the longest lines) and a 7-metre roof, and calls itself the first commercial climbing gym in the world. New Rock in Auderghem has climbed since 1988 in two tall halls, the 18.5-metre Cathédrale and the 17.5-metre Tour, with a bouldering room and board and training rooms; metro line 5 stops at Demey.
Maniak Padoue turned the Église Saint-Antoine de Padoue (1907) in Forest into a climbing centre in June 2023. Its routes reach 19 metres, with 48 lines over 15 metres, auto-belays including one for lead, a speed line, bouldering in the apse, a Kilter Board and kids' rooms, about ten minutes' walk from Brussels-Midi. Stone Age, in the Centre sportif de la Woluwe, has about 1,400 m² of walls up to 15 metres, a new bouldering room with a Kilter Board and a spray wall since March 2026, and a route room that reopened after renovation in August 2026.
Brussels Monkeys Climbing is a club-run hall at the back of the Stadium sports centre in Molenbeek, near Osseghem metro station, with 18 ropes on 16-metre walls and about 80 routes from 3a to 7c+. It opens on weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Winner's Club, a multi-sport centre in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, has a 13-metre wall, and its passes cover climbing along with its other sports. Evolution Verticale, a Club Alpin Belge club, has 30 ropes on 10-metre walls in the Poseidon sports complex in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, with open sessions four times a week for €10.
Belaying and insurance
Brussels halls don't ask for a federation certificate: each checks your belaying in its own way, from New Rock's free Badge Safe Control to Stone Age's two-session safety module and the Monkeys' two-hour initiation (€30). Bouldering halls only need climbing shoes. Entry includes accident insurance at Terres Neuves and Stone Age, New Rock sells it for €3, and Brussels Monkeys and Le Camp de Base advise climbers to arrange their own. See what Belgian halls ask of roped climbers.
Prices
In October 2026 an adult day ticket cost €10 at Brussels Monkeys and Evolution Verticale and €13 to €16 at the commercial halls, with Arkose Canal the dearest at €16 (€13 at off-peak times, and €10 for a first visit booked online). Students under 26 and children pay less almost everywhere, and Le Camp de Base gives its reduced rate to members of the Club Alpin Belge. Ten-visit cards cost €90 to €135, and monthly memberships at the climbing halls €34.90 (BLDR Maritime) to €60 (Maniak and Stone Age). Petite Île, À Bloc and Hall9, which Petite Île opened in Vilvoorde in 2023, accept each other's ten-entry cards, and Maniak's subscriptions also cover Pink Peaks in Grimbergen.
Competitions
Arkose Canal hosted the Belgian bouldering championship on 1 February 2025, and Le Camp de Base a round of the European bouldering cup on 3 and 4 May 2025. Le Camp de Base also runs its own two-day bouldering competition and festival, Master of Fire, which reached its fourth edition in 2026.
Climbing outdoors
There's no rock in the Brussels region. The nearest crags are on the Meuse around Namur, such as Beez and Dave, and further south is Freyr, near Dinant. They're open only to members of a climbing federation and the guests they invite: see our guide to climbing outdoors in Belgium. Terres Neuves runs outdoor days at Freyr, and À Bloc and Brussels Monkeys run introductions on Belgian crags.
Arkose has permission for a second Brussels hall in a former garage in Forest, but it hadn't opened by October 2026. For Ghent, Antwerp and the rest of the country, see our guide to climbing in Belgium.
