Bouldering by the docks
Beest Boulders Antwerpen, on the Rijnkaai, is the only Belgian hall of the Dutch chain Beest Boulders, with a Kilter Board training room, a climbing shop and an open kitchen. Everyone registers once for a member pass, which also works at the chain's halls in the Netherlands.
Boulderzaal The Island, on the Natiestraat at Eilandje, has about 2,000 m² of bouldering, with around 200 problems up to 8A+ and about 40 new ones every week. Climbers must be at least 8, and subscribers can also climb at its partner halls in the Netherlands, including its sister halls Block013 and Silk. The hall runs its own big annual competition, The Island Championships.
Klimzaal Blok and Klimzaal Wallstreet
Klimzaal Blok, on the IJskelderstraat in Hoboken, opened in 1994 as the first bouldering hall in the Benelux. It has about 900 m² of climbing indoors and out, with Kilter, Moon and Tension boards, and a bar serving plant-based pizzas, and dogs are welcome on a lead. It hosted the qualifying rounds of the joint Belgian and Dutch bouldering championships on 7 February 2026, and it runs the Blok Open XXL, its big annual bouldering competition.
Klimzaal Wallstreet, on the Van Duyststraat in Deurne, has been a rope and bouldering hall since 1989, with an adjustable Kilter Board, a training room and a speleobox, a caving maze for children. It doesn't ask for a certificate, but you need basic rope skills, or you can book an instructor (€30 an hour). The KBF club Kajoe runs courses there, from the beginners' KVB1 to the KVB2 lead course.
Klimzaal Rising You is the climbing hall of Rising You, a non-profit that uses sport and work to help refugees and newcomers find their place, in an old train shed at Park Spoor Noord, about 20 minutes' walk from Antwerpen-Centraal. Its roped hall has around 90 routes on about 30 ropes, 8 to 13 metres high, including a climbable roof, with about ten routes equipped for lead, and the bouldering room has about 50 problems. You can just turn up, and a day ticket costs €11.
South of the city
Level Up Bouldering is part of the Level Up leisure centre in Edegem, alongside trampolines, bowling and karaoke. It has more than 1,000 m² of walls about 4 metres high, more than 200 problems reset every Monday, a MoonBoard and an interactive Valoclimb wall. SPRING, in Duffel, is a club hall, mostly for bouldering with a few short rope routes, open on Monday to Thursday evenings. You book online, a first visit costs €6, and regulars buy ten-session cards for €50.
Klimax, about 20 km south of the city in Breendonk, is the climbing centre of the BVKB, a club founded in 1977. It has a 15.3-metre indoor rope hall, a roofed outdoor wall from 2007 that's 16 to 20 metres high and steeply overhanging, with routes up to 9a, a 600 m² bouldering hall and a 17-metre outdoor tower with an Olympic speed wall. It hosted Lead World Cup rounds in 2011 and 2012, and the Open Paraclimbing Cup in June 2026. Unsupervised top-roping in the indoor hall needs the KBF's KVB 1, and the outdoor lead walls need KVB 2 or an equivalent lead certificate; without one, you can climb in the indoor hall with a qualified belayer. The club also has a 12-metre outdoor lead tower, Klimmuur Renaat Muys, at Breeven in Bornem, which its members and climbing school use.
Mechelen and further out
Klimkaffee Mechelen, close to Mechelen station, is a bouldering hall and café bar that opened in 2018, with about 950 m² of walls and more than 160 boulders. Its sister hall, Klimkaffee Herentals, has a Kilter Board, a MoonBoard and an outdoor wall, and their passes work at both. In Turnhout, Gustaaf Klimt is an art-themed bouldering hall with an outdoor wall. West of the city, City Lizard is a bouldering hall on the Singel in Sint-Niklaas, about 18 km away, and the municipal Klimzaal Stekene, 25 km away, has an 11-metre lead hall and a bouldering room, open to KVB 1 holders for €6.90.
Prices
In October 2026 an adult day ticket cost €11 at Rising You, €14 at Wallstreet (€11 for bouldering only), €14.50 at The Island, €14.70 at Beest Boulders (€19.70 for a first visit, including a one-off €5 registration) and €15 at Blok (€13 off-peak). A month's climbing cost €61.50 at Beest Boulders, €75 at Wallstreet and €80 at The Island, and Klimkaffee charges €70 a month for both its halls. Blok and Level Up sell three-month and annual subscriptions instead: Blok's cost €225 and €549. Blok gives its reduced rate to subscribers of The Island and Wallstreet.
Youth competitions
The Regional Climbing Youth Cup, a series of youth competitions in Flemish halls, has rounds at Klimax, Klimkaffee Mechelen, Blok, Level Up, The Island and City Lizard in the 2026–27 season.
Climbing outdoors
There's no rock near Antwerp. The nearest crags are on the Meuse around Namur, about 90 km away, so Klimax's roofed outdoor wall is the closest thing to outdoor lead climbing. The climbing federations manage most Belgian crags, and KBF membership includes the climbing permit you need there.
