Central Rock Gym Chelsea is a bouldering gym at 537 West 27th Street in Manhattan, a few steps from the High Line. It opened in March 2023 and is one of the chain's two Manhattan gyms, alongside CRG Riverside on West End Avenue. The 15,000 sq ft building holds about 10,000 sq ft of climbing and 300 linear feet of bouldering walls, from the left and right slabs to the horseshoe-shaped main area, and the setters post a featured boulder each week. There are no ropes or auto belays.
The training area has a Tension Board and a Kilter Board, and there is a free-weights area. A weekly Lifting for Climbers class is free for members and open to anyone with a day pass.
Climbers must be at least 8. Children aged 12 and under can climb until 18:00 on weekdays and 16:00 at weekends, and under-13s need an adult with them. A membership covers every Central Rock Gym.

“…they set very densely so there's always a good variety. I think the setting at both CRGs are more beginner friendly than other gyms in the city. No boring ladders here.”
