Central Rock Gym's 4,000 sq ft bouldering training centre in Waltham, home to its youth competition teams. It isn't open for everyday climbing, but hosts public events such as the Waltham Slam league.

About

CRG's team training centre

Central Rock Gym Waltham, at 411 Waverley Oaks Road in Waltham, Massachusetts, opened as a public bouldering gym on 26 January 2019, in partnership with Mighty Squirrel Brewing. It is now the chain's team training facility, with around 4,000 sq ft of climbing terrain and about 150 boulder problems. The gym says it is not open to the public: CRG's youth competition teams train here, and team climbers from other branches can add a monthly practice at Waltham.

Open events

The training centre opens its doors for events. The Waltham Slam, first run in summer 2025, is a six-week bouldering league of modern competition-style problems from about V2 to V11+, with Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions, drop-in entries and a final; the 2026 series ran from July to August. A Movement Clinic Series has taught competition moves such as laches and paddle dynos in sessions open to the public.
