Hadley, Massachusetts, United States
Central Rock Gym Hadley, on Russell Street, has 24,000 sq ft of climbing terrain, with 120 top-rope and lead stations on walls up to 42 ft tall and 6,000 sq ft of bouldering. Its areas have their own names: the Barn holds top-rope walls and a bouldering section, the Lead Cave reopened with new lead routes in September 2026, and the overhanging Dab Cave is set with boulders. Auto belays let you climb without a partner, and the training area has a Kilter Board, a Tension Board and a Clift system board.
Beginners can book Learn the Ropes, the gym's belay class, or a Climb with an Instructor session, then work through the Climbing Progression Program and Learn to Lead. The Adult Team runs eight-week coached training blocks on Tuesday evenings for climbers who can onsight around V3 or 5.11a. Members also get free yoga and fitness classes in the yoga studio and weight room, from Ashtanga and restorative yoga to strength and power sessions for climbers.
Youth programmes include Climbing Club Jr for ages 4 to 7 (with parents belaying), Climbing Club for 7 to 12, a recreational team and a competitive team coached by USA Climbing coaches, plus school-holiday programmes. The gym hosts a monthly BIPOC climbing meet-up and Queer Climb Night, member meet-ups for finding climbing partners, a Tuesday run club and an adaptive climbing programme run with the Center for Human Development. It also stages the final of the Summer Send Series, a bouldering competition series shared with CRG Worcester and West Hartford, and seasonal parties such as Dynoween.
Membership includes rental gear and climbing at every Central Rock Gym location.
