Troy, New York, United States
Central Rock Gym Troy opened in December 2025 in a new building at 547 River Street, with windows looking out on the Collar City Bridge. It has 20,000 sq ft of climbing terrain: lead and top-rope walls up to 45 ft tall, auto belays, and 250 linear ft of bouldering spread over areas including the Deep End and an upstairs section. A Tension Board and a Kilter Board cover training, and there is a weights room and space for yoga and fitness classes.
Beginners can book Intro to Climbing (with a kids' version), Learn the Ropes or a Climb with an Instructor session, then go on to the Climbing Progression Program and Learn to Lead. Members get free yoga and antagonist-training classes. Meet-ups fill the calendar: Women's Night twice a month, monthly Climbers of Color and Over 50 nights, and Queer and BIPOC Queer climbing nights run with Chalked Up(state). Boulders & Bucha opens a new boulder set with kombucha and live music on the first Monday of each month, and Breakfast Club serves coffee and bagels on the second Sunday.
Youth programmes run from Climbing Club Jr for ages 3.5 to 5 through Climbing Club, a recreational team and a competition team coached by USA Climbing coaches, with holiday camps. The gym runs a seasonal Rope League, set comp-style boulders for a USA Climbing collegiate competition in spring 2026, and screens Reel Rock 20 with the Thacher Climbing Coalition in December 2026 to raise money for the Access Fund.
