Westbury, New York, United States
The Gravity Vault opened its thirteenth gym, and its second on Long Island after Melville, in November 2024. It fills the former food court on the second floor of Samanea New York mall on Old Country Road, where floor-to-ceiling glass lights the rope walls, and gives over 18,500 sq ft of climbing terrain.
Bouldering needs no booking: buy a day pass and hire shoes at the desk. To top-rope you need a partner who has passed the gym's belay test, which experienced climbers can take at the desk; everyone else can learn on one of the belay classes held four times a week. Climbers aged 14 and over can belay, and lead climbing is open from 16 after a lead test. Beginners and families can book an hour with an instructor on the ropes or the boulders.
The gym also runs kids' classes, holiday camps, youth climbing teams, yoga, scout programmes and birthday parties, and has locker rooms with showers, two party rooms and lounges with free Wi-Fi.

“Modest size gym geared towards novice climbers. … There was a limited number of autobelays, so if you did not have a belay partner, you going to climb through everything pretty quickly.”
“New and very big. Several auto belayers. Mostly ropes and bouldering walls. Small merch section.”
