Tempe, Arizona, United States
Tempe Bouldering Project opened in 2023 as Bouldering Project's first gym in Arizona, in Tempe's Maker District near Arizona State University. Climbing Business Journal named it the largest new bouldering gym of 2023 and ranks it among the ten largest in the US, with 14,744 sq ft of climbing on walls up to 17 ft high in a building of about 50,000 sq ft. Bouldering Project built the walls and flooring itself.
Problems follow the chain's overlapping colour circuits, from yellow for first-timers up to mint at V11 and above. The training area has an adjustable 12x16 Kilter Board and a 12x12 Tension Board 2, and children have their own youth climbing area and play room.
Every pass includes the yoga and fitness timetable, the weight room and cardio equipment, and the co-working space, with indoor and outdoor lounges. There are locker rooms, and Proyecto Coffee Bar serves coffee inside the gym from Friday to Monday. Shoes, chalk bags and crash pads can be hired.
Weekly intro and beginner classes are free for members, a four-week Bouldering 2 course covers the purple to black circuits, and personal climbing coaching is available. Youth programmes run from after-school classes and holiday camps to youth teams for ages 7 to 18. The gym held Tempe's Boulderfest in September 2026, and members meet up once a month. A first visit is free for Arizona residents, and parking is free on site.

“Super fun clean gym to boulder (climb). It’s pretty expensive for a day pass though compared to a membership.”
“HUGE climbing area (they make great use of the space & have lots of surface area of walls, well spaced-out problems), CREATIVE SETTING, variety of styles, great range of difficulty.”
“As a student without a membership, first time is free and every subsequent trip is about $30 including rental shoes. Good variety in routes and one of the many walls is updated every week.”
