Washington, District of Columbia, United States
DC Bouldering Project opened in 2021 in the Eckington Yards development near Union Market, originally as Brooklyn Boulders' DC gym, and bills itself as the first climbing gym in the District. It is bouldering only, with no ropes, and its centrepiece is The Beast, a 55-foot-long overhang that runs between two levels. Problems go from beginner to advanced on Bouldering Project's colour circuits, and there are system boards for training.
The building holds 34,714 square feet of climbing and fitness space, with dedicated yoga and fitness studios, weight rooms, locker rooms with saunas, co-working lounges and a coffee counter behind the front desk. Yoga and fitness classes are included with every pass.
Seven community groups hold monthly affinity nights here: the Ladies Climbing Coalition, Stonewall Climbing, Dyke Climb, Escala, Soul Trak, Sends with Friends and Sober Climb, with free entry for the first 25 at each.

“I took an intro class and goofed around after. … It was great they taught me how to think through a climb, how to fall, and basic etiquette. Shoe rental reasonable.”
“In every rock climbing gym I've ever visited, I can do a fair number of the routes for beginners. I've been to this gym twice. I can do 2. 2 routes.”
