City Lizard

City Lizard is a bouldering gym on the Singel in Sint-Niklaas, with orange walls that you climb no more than 4 metres above thick crash mats. You don't need anyone to belay you: bring sports clothes and climbing shoes, or hire shoes at the bar. Problems are reset very regularly by a team of setters with experience both indoors and on rock, so regulars find new boulders on every visit. A separate training room is open to climbers aged 16 and over and to advanced climbers.

The house rules ask you not to jump from the top: climb back down, or use the ladder where a problem tops out.

Courses and training

Start to Boulder is a beginners' course of three Monday-evening lessons for groups of five to ten, covering levels from 3A to 5C. Children aged 8 to 12 and teenagers from 13 train on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 12:00 with experienced coaches, and adults can join evening training sessions. The gym hosts a round of the Regional Climbing Youth Cup in February 2027.

Practical

• Bar: drinks are served at the bar, which also hires out climbing shoes.
• Groups: team building and children's parties for ten or more people, with optional guidance and food, and a multipurpose room for events.
