Climbing at Life Time Syosset

Life Time Syosset is a two-storey athletic club on Robbins Lane, which opened in January 2011 with a large rock-climbing cavern among its facilities. Life Time describes a 30-foot indoor rock wall: tall, angular faces with top ropes and a cave-like opening at their foot, with bouldering above mats as well as roped climbing.

Who can climb

The wall is for members and the guests they bring: Life Time says the rock wall is available only with a membership, and this club sells no day pass. Adult memberships start at $358 a month, month to month. Members can climb without booking during Rock Wall hours, on Monday to Thursday evenings and weekend afternoons, when an instructor is on hand to help and belay. Climbing shoes are optional and trainers are fine.

Kids

Children from age 5 have instructor-led climbing classes, split into ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 11, on Monday and Wednesday evenings and weekend mornings. Progressive, curriculum-led classes are available for junior members at extra cost, and kids also climb the wall at Parents' Night Out and at birthday parties, with harnesses, ropes and supervision provided.

The rest of the club

The newly remodelled club also has indoor and outdoor pools, a basketball gym, pickleball, a large workout floor, yoga and group-fitness studios, a sauna, steam room and cold plunge, LifeSpa, the LifeCafe, a lounge bar and a Work Club lounge.
