Where to climb
Minsk has the most walls. Plato and Trapezia are bouldering gyms with small roped areas, Skalodrom Dinamo at the National Olympic Stadium has walls about 16 metres high with lead routes and an Olympic speed route, and the Frunzensky district sports centre runs coached group sessions on an 8-metre wall. See our guide to climbing in Minsk.
- Brest: Vershina, in the athletics manege on ul. Moskovskaya, has rope walls up to 11 metres with lead routes, and a bouldering area. It also runs an 8-metre outdoor wall at the rowing canal, with ten routes from 5a to 6c, which is used by appointment when the weather allows.
- Mogilev: Skalodrom Viktoriya, a 17-metre outdoor wall with a speed lane and a lead wall, opened at the city's Olympic-reserve sports school on 24 June 2026. The state news agency BelTA called it the tallest outdoor wall in Belarus. Adults can book three-hour sessions by phone for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturdays.
- Vitebsk: the Regional Palace of Children and Youth has had a wall since 2019. It runs youth groups and paid sessions by arrangement, and hosts the region's open bouldering competitions.
- Gomel: the regional centre of tourism and ecology runs about 15 climbing groups on its wall, which hosted the national youth bouldering competition in March 2026.
Bouldering, ropes and belaying
Plato's bouldering hall is 4 metres high, with more than 100 problems, new ones set every week, and a MoonBoard. Trapezia's walls overhang by up to 55 degrees, with about 250 problems and routes. For climbing on a rope, Dinamo and Vershina have lead routes, Trapezia has a 6-metre top-rope corner, and Plato has a 5-metre rope room for children and beginners.
Rather than asking for a belay certificate, the walls check your belaying themselves. Trapezia says no certificate is needed, but an instructor checks your technique; Vershina's staff check visitors before they climb on their own; and at Viktoriya an instructor belays until they have checked your skills. Trapezia, Vershina and Viktoriya all ask you to book ahead.
Prices
In October 2026 an adult day ticket cost BYN 20 at Vershina, BYN 23 at Dinamo, BYN 25 at Trapezia and BYN 32 at Plato, with cheaper weekday daytime entry at Trapezia (BYN 20) and Plato (BYN 25). A month's unlimited climbing cost BYN 140 at Trapezia, BYN 145 at Vershina and BYN 190 at Plato. Shoe hire is extra. The state-run walls charge less: a three-hour session at Viktoriya costs BYN 20, a coached group session at the Frunzensky centre BYN 11, and an hour at the Vitebsk palace BYN 10.
Beginners and children
The commercial walls sell introductory sessions. Trapezia's start pack (BYN 40) includes gear, a safety briefing, five roped climbs with an instructor and unlimited bouldering, and Plato's introductory session (BYN 45) includes gear and three roped climbs. Plato and Vershina take children from the age of 4 and Trapezia from 5, though under-14s may only use Trapezia's bouldering hall with an adult. Vershina also runs adaptive climbing sessions for children with special needs. Coached children's groups run at most walls, including the Frunzensky centre (from age 8) and the youth centres in Vitebsk and Gomel.
Competitions
The national federation is the Belarus Alpinism and Climbing Federation. The national bouldering championships were held in September 2025, in Minsk, and in April 2026, and the lead championships at Dinamo in December 2025. Youth bouldering competitions were held in Mogilev in December 2025 and in Gomel in March 2026, and Viktoriya hosted Mogilev's first open city competition on 17 September 2026. World Climbing lifted its suspension of the federation in February 2026: Belarusian athletes may compete internationally under its Neutral Athletes Policy, but no international events may be held in Belarus until further notice.
Outdoor climbing
Guidebook sites such as theTopo list no developed crags in Belarus, so climbing outdoors mostly means the outdoor walls: Viktoriya in Mogilev, and Vershina's wall at the Brest rowing canal in the warmer months.
