Game Over Gold Coast is an indoor family entertainment centre on Siganto Drive in Helensvale, on the northern Gold Coast. Alongside electric go-karts, Lazer Tag, mini golf and an arcade, it runs a Clip 'n Climb zone of 19 themed climbing challenges. Every challenge is on an auto-belay, which lowers climbers gently to the floor when they reach the top or let go, so there are no ropes to manage and nobody needs to know how to belay.
These are colourful novelty walls rather than a bouldering or roped climbing gym. They include the Twister Tower, Stairway to Heaven, the Ladder and a Speed Wall for racing a friend to the top, and each wall has three levels of difficulty, so first-timers and stronger climbers can share a session. It's aimed at families, but adults climb too.
In Queensland school terms, climbing starts at midday on weekdays and finishes at 15:00 from Monday to Thursday and at 20:00 on Fridays, with longer hours at weekends and in the school holidays. Group bookings for birthday parties, team building and bucks and hens parties can include a climbing session.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
