Vienna, Austria
Boulderbar Hauptbahnhof opened in 2020 on the ground floor of the new Sonnwendviertel, close to Vienna's main station, as part of a lively pedestrian zone. It has about 1,100 m² of floor space and around 1,300 m² of climbing on walls up to 4.5 m, plus an outdoor bouldering area of about 200 m² under the trees. Problems are set in single hold colours, and wifi is free.
A second hall, added in 2024, holds an expanded training area and a separate children's area. Training kit includes a spray wall, two Kilter Boards (a 12×12 Original and a 7×10 home wall), a competition-style wall, a campus board, hangboards and fingerboards, a calisthenics rig and free weights. The children's area is open to every age, even under-3s, and there are supervised children's courses.
The bar serves iced teas and lemonades, pizzas, vegan dishes, toasties, stews, snacks and homemade cake, and the shop stocks La Sportiva shoes, chalk and clothing. A free beginners' workshop, included in the entry price for anyone aged 14 or over, runs on Wednesdays from 17:00 to 18:00 (not in school holidays), alongside courses for adults, beginners and children and private lessons. The hall also hosts hobby competitions such as Flash or Trash. Under-14s must climb with an adult, and 14 to 17-year-olds can come on their own with a parent's signed consent form. Tickets and passes are shared with the other Vienna halls and St. Pölten.
