Quebec's 2026–27 climbing competition season and the Canada Games

The FQME's Coupe Québec circuit visits gyms in Trois-Rivières, Quebec City and Greater Montréal this autumn, ahead of the Speed Nationals in Montréal in January and sport climbing's Canada Games debut in Quebec City in March 2027.

Quebec's competition climbers have a full season ahead. The Fédération québécoise de la montagne et de l'escalade (FQME) runs its Coupe Québec circuit through the autumn, Montréal hosts the national speed championships in January, and in March 2027 sport climbing makes its debut at the Canada Games in Quebec City. These are the dates published in October 2026: check the FQME calendar before you travel, as they can change.

Coupe Québec, autumn 2026

  • 17 October: bouldering at Campus Escalade, Trois-Rivières.
  • 8 November: bouldering at Délire Escalade in Quebec City.
  • 14 November: bouldering at Bloc Action in Mascouche (the Blocbuster), and lead at Zéro Gravité in Montréal.
  • 21 November: bouldering at Rose Bloc Longueuil, and lead at the Centre Multisports André-Chagnon in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
  • 28 November: lead at Maïkan Aventure, Trois-Rivières.

Trois-Rivières gets both a bouldering and a lead round this autumn, and the Montréal area hosts four rounds on two weekends. See climbing in Montréal, climbing in Quebec City and climbing in Trois-Rivières for the gyms.

Friendly events

Not every event is part of the circuit. Beta Bloc in Dorval holds Deadpoint, a dyno contest, on 24 October, Le Crux Boisbriand has a headlamp night, Stranger Crux, on 30 October, and Bloc Shop Mile-Ex runs a Halloween Boulder Marathon on 31 October. The FQME also lists off-circuit competition simulations on 19 December 2026 and 30 January 2027.

Selection for the Canada Games

On 7 November, the day before the Quebec City round, Délire Escalade Sainte-Foy hosts the FQME's bouldering selection for the Canada Games and senior climbers. There's one women's and one men's category, with flash qualifiers in the morning and an on-sight final at 18:00 in a "4 on, 4 off" format. Twelve climbers reach the final, at least eight of them young enough for the Games, and the FQME holds a separate lead selection. Other provinces are picking their teams too: Alberta held its selection camp at Bolder Elevated in Calgary from 2 to 4 October.

Speed Nationals in Montréal

Climbing Escalade Canada's calendar puts the Speed National Championships and a development camp at Accès Escalade Montréal on 30 and 31 January 2027. Accès Escalade shares the former Horizon Roc building with Monolithe Escalade.

Sport climbing at the Canada Games

The 2027 Canada Winter Games take place in Quebec City from 27 February to 14 March 2027, with about 2,400 athletes in 22 sports, and sport climbing is on the programme for the first time. Climbing Escalade Canada has scheduled bouldering for 9 and 10 March and lead for 12 and 13 March. In October 2026 neither the City, the Canada Games nor the federation had announced the venue.

Quebec's young climbers already have international experience: eight were on Team Canada at the 2026 World Youth Championships in Arco, Italy, in July, where the best Quebec results were two under-17 semi-finals.

Ice climbing in February

In winter, part of the action moves outside. Festiglace in Pont-Rouge, west of Quebec City, is held every year on the third weekend of February, with free ice-climbing trials and competitions. In October 2026 its 2027 dates hadn't been announced.
