Memphis, Tennessee, United States
High Point Climbing Memphis is the biggest gym in the High Point group, a chain that started in Chattanooga and now has gyms in Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. It stands on North Humphreys Boulevard in East Memphis, next to Christian Brothers High School, in a purpose-built building planned at 32,000 sq ft.
A day pass or membership also covers the fitness and cardio area and the yoga timetable, which has classes on most days of the week. There is a pro shop, gear to hire and a multi-purpose room for parties, team-building days and other groups of up to 30.
Classes cover top-rope belaying (from age 11) and lead climbing, and the gym offers private coaching and guiding by AMGA Single Pitch Instructors. Children can join climbing clubs from age four and move on to development and competition teams, with holiday camps for ages 5 to 13. The gym runs bouldering and rope leagues and a busy events calendar, including Rocktober, a Halloween bouldering competition in the Southern Grit series, ladies’ nights and a community night every Thursday with cheaper entry.
Membership is valid at every High Point gym, so members can also climb at the Chattanooga, Cleveland, Huntsville and Birmingham gyms.

“its really big and has really tall walls in the rope and bouldering sections… nice weight room upstairs… the general consensus between my friends is that the grading is pretty soft.”
“It’s fun for children and fun to pass the time with friends and family. The staff is awesome!! They are very kind and helpful…”
“Top rope routes are extremely fun and versatile. They have about 5-6 auto belay routes. Also very useful: they have code-locked lockers to keep personal belongings.”
