Defy Gravity Bouldering is a bouldering gym on Cochrane Street in Manunda, an inner suburb of Cairns. It shares its site with Defy Gravity's kids' trampoline park and indoor playground on Alfred Street, so families can fit in some bouldering on the same visit.
The walls mix white and dark panels studded with bright red volumes, from vertical faces to a steep overhanging roof, all above padded matting. The staff keep the problems changing, and climbers who train here describe a wide range of grades, friendly staff and a community that cheers each other on, from first-timers to experienced boulderers.
Prices, contact details and class times aren't published online, so it's worth checking with the gym before a first visit.
