9 Degrees Alexandria opened in August 2015 as the first gym of 9 Degrees, which now runs bouldering gyms across Sydney and Brisbane. It fills Building 3 of a business park at 85 O'Riordan St, about ten minutes' walk from Mascot station, with some 82 metres of Walltopia walls (around 420 square metres of climbing surface) that run from vertical faces to overhangs.
Problems are set on a nine-level colour scale, from climbs about as easy as a ladder up to V12 and beyond, and the setters put up new climbs every Tuesday, when the gym doesn't open until 4pm. The walls top out at 4.5 metres above deep crash mats, with down-climb holds at the top of each problem, and reviewers single out the slabs.
A 45-degree MoonBoard and a small area for weights and stretching sit alongside the main walls. There are showers, changing rooms and lockers, and the gym doubles as a café, selling coffee, food, drinks and 9 Degrees merchandise.

“Great setting (of the climbs that is…), friendly atmosphere and despite its relatively small size I always feel satisfied with the visit. Their slabs are particularly good if you're so inclined!”
“Some of the beginner climbs were still pretty tricky to be honest! Bathrooms could be a little tidier but otherwise good gym. Went on a Monday during the day and it was pretty quiet.”
“…it's a fun and fairly safe thing to try, they have multiple levels of difficulty catering to people of all experiences!”
