Klatreverket in Drammen
Klatreverket Strømsø, on Tollbugata, is the larger of the city's two centres and caters for everyone from children to experienced climbers: top-rope and lead climbing on walls up to 12 m, many routes you can also climb on auto-belays after a short introduction, two floors of bouldering with a cave, walls for younger children and a training area with a MoonBoard. No booking or experience is needed.
Klatreverket Åssiden is its bouldering-only sister, with problems for beginners and experienced boulderers, a Kilter Board and a training room. It's open from 06:00 to 23:00 every day, but reception is staffed only at set times; the rest of the time you get in with a Klatreverket clip card or an entry ticket bought online. Both centres are run by Drammen Klatresenter AS under the Klatreverket name, and their clip cards and half-year cards also work at Klatreverket's four Oslo centres.
Røyken and Asker
Røykenbadet klatresenter, at the municipal swimming and fitness centre in Røyken, opened in January 2017 and has 317 m² of climbing: a 12.9 m wall rising over three floors, a lower wall from the mezzanine and a bouldering wall with a cave. Røyken og Hurum Klatreklubb sets the routes, and anyone can climb in the opening hours after signing a liability form; without a belay certificate you can boulder or use the TrueBlue auto-belays. Holmen Klatresenter, next to the Holmen Senter shopping centre in Asker, is mainly for roped climbing, with top-rope and lead walls and a room of auto-belays.
Prices
In October 2026 an adult day ticket cost NOK 175 at both Klatreverket centres, NOK 160 at Holmen and NOK 130 at Røykenbadet. Klatreverket's Drammen centres don't sell a monthly card, but they have clip cards and a half-year card valid at every Klatreverket centre in Drammen and Oslo.
The Brattkort
Bouldering needs no certificate. To belay on a rope you need a Brattkort, Norway's belay certificate. Klatreverket Drammen holds Brattkort tests without booking on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and on Sundays, for NOK 100, includes a test with its courses, and accepts equivalent certificates from other countries. The minimum age for a test is 13. Holmen's four-hour beginner course leads to the top-rope test, which costs NOK 100 on its own.
Clubs and competitions
Drammen Klatreklubb, which is registered at Klatreverket Strømsø's address, hosted a round of the Østlandscup, eastern Norway's regional competition series, in March 2026. Røyken og Hurum Klatreklubb climbs at Røykenbadet, and Holmen Klatreklubb has been part of Holmen Klatresenter since it opened.
