Røyken, Akershus, Norway
Røykenbadet klatresenter is the climbing wall at Røykenbadet, the municipal swimming and fitness centre at Bassengveien 1 in Røyken, Asker. It is owned and run by Røykenbadet KF in partnership with Røyken og Hurum Klatreklubb, which checks the holds every month and resets the routes. The wall opened in January 2017 and has 317 m² of climbing: a 12.9-metre wall rising over three floors, a lower 8.4-metre wall from the mezzanine, and a 4.1-metre bouldering wall with a bouldering cave.
Anyone can climb during the centre's training and climbing hours after signing a liability form (parents sign for under-18s at Røykenbadet). Without a belay certificate you can boulder over the thick mats or use the TrueBlue auto-belays. Belaying on top-rope needs a top-rope card (topptaukort) or Brattkort, and lead climbing needs a Brattkort, which you can take from age 13. Under-18s without a certificate must bring a responsible adult. Shoes, harnesses and belay devices can be hired.
Røyken og Hurum Klatreklubb runs free climbing evenings for its young members on Tuesdays (18:00–20:00, mostly youth) and Thursdays (17:30–19:30, mostly children), club climbing on the first Wednesday of each month, regular Brattkort tests, and courses such as a parent-and-child course in autumn 2026. Club members pay less for entry, and annual climbing cards are only sold to members.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
