Climbing in İlkadım

Veo Climbing is an indoor climbing centre in the Baruthane neighbourhood of İlkadım, Samsun, run by Zirve55. The 400 m² hall has high ceilings, bouldering walls above thick safety matting, a taller lead wall for roped climbing and a separate children's area, so there's room for complete beginners, regular climbers and young children alike.

Coaching

Instructors coach every level, from first-timers to climbers who want to keep improving. Bouldering sessions work on technique, balance, strength and problem solving, while lead sessions cover technique, equipment, safety, endurance and reading longer routes. Children have their own group climbing classes, and movement and basic gymnastics classes for children aged three and over run in the children's area, which is fitted out with climbing walls, rope nets, monkey bars and a rope bridge.

More than climbing

• A café serving hot and iced coffee, smoothies and organic snacks, with seating where you can watch the climbing and screens showing the children's area
• A women-only reformer pilates studio with classes of up to four, so mums can train while their children climb
• Separate changing rooms for women and men, with showers and toilets, free for members
• A small pop-up shop stocking climbing gear and everyday items

Good to know

The centre opens six days a week from 14:00 to 21:00, and Sunday opening varies, so it's worth checking before a weekend visit. Climbing prices aren't published online, so call or message the gym for membership and lesson rates. It also hosts children's birthday parties and visits from nursery schools.
