Newton Graz is a bouldering gym on Ägydigasse, a few steps from Griesplatz, and the original hall of Newton, which also runs Newton Kapfenberg. It has more than 1,400 m² of floor space, with problems on the ground and upper floors on walls up to 4.5 m high, from technical slabs to steep overhangs, dynos and aretes. The setters aim to test technique as well as strength, and new problems go up twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The floor is covered in Polskok carpet matting, topping out isn't allowed, and grey volumes can be used on any problem.
The training area in the basement has the Nature Board, built for training for climbing outside, a Kilter board, a campus board and strength-training equipment, and a ventilation and air-conditioning system keeps the hall cool. There's also a children's area, a course area, changing rooms and lockers, and shoes, chalk and crash pads can be hired.
The café serves coffee and food, including vegetarian and vegan dishes, with a beer garden for the evenings. The nearest bus stops are on Griesplatz; there's plenty of bike parking behind the hall with a small repair station, and parking on site marked with the NE logo is free while you climb. Ägydigasse is one-way and can only be entered from the south. Courses and workshops for adults, children's courses, holiday camps and children's parties run in both Newton halls.

“The setting is just great… lots of slab, lots of flat walls with very tensiony climbs, the overhang upstairs is good too. Only gym I know that has a spray wall with real rock holds.”
“I’ve been to many climbing gyms ( not just in Austria), and this one is definitely in my top 3. Good food, beautiful interior design, and excellent layout and circulation such an impressive place!”
