Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
Momentum Millcreek opened in 2014 in a former grocery store on 3300 South, the second gym of a Utah chain that began in Sandy in 2007. Part of the roof was raised to 55 feet to fit the walls, and a 2019-20 expansion into the building next door grew the gym by 60%. It now covers about 40,000 square feet, with some 28,000 square feet of climbing surface.
The centrepiece is a 53-foot lead wall framed by a 40-foot arch. There are more than 180 roped routes for top-rope and lead, crack lines that run almost the full height of the wall, an official 15-metre speed wall, a large bouldering area with over 100 problems and a kids' area with shorter walls. The training area has a Kilter Board, a Tension Board, a Moon Board and hangboards, and there's a weights and cardio room, a yoga studio with classes every day (free to members and day-pass holders), and locker rooms with showers and a sauna.
Learn to Belay and Learn to Lead lead on to technique, crack-climbing and Transition to Outdoors classes, alongside personal coaching, the Bad Girls Bouldering Club and an Adult Climbing Club. Youth programmes run from age 3 up to the competitive Team Momentum Utah. The gym hosts an Adaptive Climbing Meetup on the first Sunday of each month, a monthly Partner Finder evening and a Speed Climbing Club on alternate Tuesdays, and it has staged USA Climbing national championships and the 2024 IFSC Para Climbing World Cup.
Top-rope belayers must be 12 or over and pass a belay check. Lead climbers must be 14 or over, bring their own 35-metre rope and pass a lead test on a 5.10 route.

“Other than that, the facility is amazing and I wish this sauna could just be a little warmer.”
“The gym is big and has varied climbs at every grade for bouldering, TR, and lead… Despite the gym's size, it gets crowded. Go midday on a weekday if at all possible to avoid the crowds.”
“Member for 5 years now and grateful to have such an amazing climbing gym, with yoga, fitness equipment, and social events so close to home… And now they added a sauna at Millcreek.”
