Friluftshuset is DNT Oslo og Omegn's activity centre at the end of the road on Sørenga, beside the sea bath, where the hiking association runs paddling courses, kayak and SUP hire and other outdoor activities. Its bouldering room has a low wall above thick, soft mats, so no ropes are needed, and volunteer route-setters change the problems regularly. It suits anyone from about four years old.
You can drop in on any day while Friluftshuset is open and pay at the desk next to the room; DNT members pay less, and climbing shoes can be hired. The room is sometimes let to schools and groups, so call ahead if you want to be sure it's free. You climb at your own risk, following the room's rules and the self-declaration posted there.
On Sundays from 10:00 to 12:00, except in the Easter, summer and Christmas holidays, the room is set aside for family bouldering, and on Mondays from 12:00 to 15:00 for parents on parental leave, who can bring their babies along. Both sessions are drop-in at the usual prices, with no leader present, and there are changing tables, toilets, coffee and pram parking just outside. Groups, nurseries and schools can book the room by email.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
