Bouldering in Villach

VOLUME is a bouldering hall on Lehmgrubenweg in Villach, run by VOLUME Sports GmbH together with its own club, the Boulderverein VOLUME. The hall has a floor area of 1,500 m², with 1,000 m² of bouldering walls and a 120 m² spray wall. For training there's a 75 m² area with hangboards, a horizontal bar, sling trainers, weights and pull-up bars, plus a campus board and a Kilter Board with a kickboard. Problems run from 4a to 8c on the French scale in six colour-coded bands: the start holds are marked with coloured tape, with an info card beside them, and the hall's wooden volumes can be used unless the card rules them out. Part of the hall is reset every Tuesday, ready to try from 16:00.

Visiting

The hall is open every day until 22:00, from 10:00 on Mondays, Thursdays, weekends and public holidays and from 16:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It's closed from 24 to 26 December and on 31 December and 1 January. Entry is cheaper before 16:00 on weekdays, Alpenverein and Boulderverein members get discounts, and La Sportiva shoes can be hired. There are beginners' and improvers' courses for adults, personal training, four-week courses for children aged 6 to 12, children's birthday parties, and sessions for companies, school classes and social organisations. The Boulderverein VOLUME runs the Boulderbash series of fun competitions, with three cups a year and a final in December, and a Kidzcup with the Alpenverein Villach.
