St Paul, Minnesota, United States
Vertical Endeavors St. Paul, on Phalen Blvd, is where the Minnesota climbing chain began. The gym has more than 18,200 sq ft of climbing surface on walls up to 39 ft high, and it is one of four Vertical Endeavors gyms in the Twin Cities.
More than 60 ropes and 15 auto belays give around 160 routes on top-rope and lead walls, and there are two separate bouldering areas. A beginner area helps newcomers find their feet before they move on to the taller walls.
Members can climb from 08:00 on weekdays, and public hours run from 10:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 18:00 at weekends. A day pass costs $24 and a single-gym membership $77 a month, and first-time visitors climb free after 18:00 on the first Friday of the month. There is a pro shop, weight equipment, showers and lockers, and members get their own night on the third Sunday of each month.

“I did the belay class so that he wouldn’t be stuck using only the auto belayers on the days he goes not for the class. … I think the staff is great. Very helpful and knowledgeable.”
“Both times the staff has been amazing and the place is immaculate. … Easy place to get to and grateful they are also encouraging of kids!”
