Bloomington, Minnesota, United States
Vertical Endeavors Bloomington, on James Ave S in the southern Twin Cities suburbs, has the tallest walls in the Vertical Endeavors chain, reaching 60 ft. About 32,000 sq ft of climbing surface, built by the chain's sister company Nicros, fills a 20,000 sq ft building, with white walls and red and grey ribs framing a tall central atrium.
Around 230 routes run across top-rope and lead walls of several heights, from about 25 ft to 55 ft, and 27 auto belays let visitors climb without a partner. Two bouldering areas, one beside the entrance and front desk and a boulder alley, complete the mix.
The gym opens from 10:00 to 22:00 on weekdays, 10:00 to 20:00 on Saturdays and 10:00 to 18:00 on Sundays. A day pass costs $24 plus sales tax, and first-timers sign a waiver and watch a short orientation video. There is a fitness area with cardio machines and weights, a pro shop at the front desk and a large car park around the building. The auto belays can get busy when groups visit.

“The only negative I see is a shortage of auto belays. When groups of newer climbers come in (which is frequent) the auto belay area is so full it can be overwhelming.”
“The walls varied in difficulty, allowing people from all levels to have fun. … The climbing instructors are helpful and care about your safety. It is very fun and accessible for children as well.”
“They have routes that vary from 25' to 55'. … There is a huge parking lot that wraps around the building so I never have issues finding a spot.”
