About Velocity Climbing

Velocity Climbing opened in March 2024 in a purpose-built, climber-owned building one block from Earlington Heights Metrorail station, about five minutes from Wynwood and Downtown Miami. Walltopia built the walls, which give 23,000 sq ft of climbing surface, and Climbing Business Journal named it the tallest new climbing gym of 2024.

Climbing

• Ropes: more than 100 top-rope and lead routes on walls up to about 60 ft, plus auto-belays.
• Speed: a 15-metre, IFSC-standard speed wall for racing side by side.
• Bouldering: two floors of problems, including a reproduction of the Innsbruck 2018 World Championship bouldering wall.
• Training: a Kilter Board, and a fitness area with bikes and weights.

Visiting

There is no need to book: sign the waiver and walk in. Every climber, however experienced, takes a free assessment before using the top ropes, lead walls or auto-belays, and first-timers can join the intro classes that run every day. Under-18s must be accompanied by a parent throughout. There are lockers and snacks, and members can log their climbs in the Kaya app.

Programmes and community

Velocity runs lead climbing classes, an after-school programme for ages 7 to 13, summer camps, birthday parties in a private party room and corporate events. Seasonal boulder leagues, the Vice City Boulder Open, dyno comps and themed nights such as Haunted Flash Night keep the community busy.
