Climbing at Vår Energi Arena Sandneshallen

Vår Energi Arena Sandneshallen, at Sandved in Sandnes, is one of Folkehallene's intermunicipal arenas, with an indoor running track, ball courts, a training room and group classes alongside its climbing wall. The wall has six auto-belay lines on vertical and overhanging sections, plus anchors for top-rope and lead climbing. The setting mixes plenty of easy routes for children, young people and beginners with harder lines for experienced climbers, and the arena pitches it at families as much as at climbers wanting an efficient auto-belay session.

Getting in

Climbing runs through the arena's staffed opening hours with no instructor and no need to book: buy a day pass at reception or use a Folkekortet membership. Using the auto-belays without an instructor needs a Brattkort, which you show at reception. If you don't have one, start with a "Prøv klatring" taster on a day pass, held on selected Tuesdays and on selected Sundays in season (no Brattkort needed, but there may be a queue), or with an auto-belay course; the arena runs both every third weekend. Harnesses and shoes can be hired in adult and children's sizes.

Groups and early access

This autumn's timetable also has an instructor-led session on Tuesday evenings, free with Folkekortet and open to drop-in visitors. Children's climbing groups for ages 7–12 and 12–16 meet on Mondays for a half-year at a time, following the school terms. Folkekortet members aged 18 and over can sign up for Meråpent, unstaffed access from 05:00; at least two people must be on the wall together, and they bring their own gear.
