Tromsø, Troms, Norway
Tromsø Klatresenter is a roped climbing and bouldering centre at Templarheimen, in the same building as Tromsøbadet and sharing its entrance. It is run by Tromsø Klatresenter AS and shares its website with Tromsø Klatreklubb, the local climbing club, whose members pay lower prices. The walls range from 3 to 17.5 metres high, with lead and top-rope routes, auto-belays, a bouldering area and a small bouldering wall for children.
To belay on a rope here you need a Brattkort or a top-rope card (topptaukort), including when belaying children. Tests run every week, and a weekend beginners' course (NOK 1,600, age 13 and over) includes the Brattkort test and two weeks' free entry. Courses are usually taught in Norwegian, with help in English when needed.
Drop-in visitors are welcome and can hire shoes, harnesses and other gear; everyone reads the safety rules and signs a declaration first. Children under 13 must be supervised by an adult. Season and punch cards also give access to the Puls Treningssenter gym. Buses 20 and 24 stop at Templarheimen, a short walk uphill, and the centre is wheelchair accessible.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.

“Nice, surprisingly big and tall climbing hall, with plenty of routes and 7 self belay stations. … they have plenty of boulder opportunities and a training area, a moon board and a spray wall.”
