Sacramento, California, United States
The Boulder Field is an independent bouldering gym on Belvedere Avenue in Sacramento, built inside a 33,000 sq ft former warehouse. It has 10,000 sq ft of walls up to 14 ft high over deep padded flooring, with more than 325 problems up at any time. Problems are graded on a colour circuit running from green, the easiest, to black, the hardest, and the setters reset the gym section by section on a cycle of about ten weeks.
The training area has a MoonBoard, a Tension Board, a spray wall, a circuit wall, hangboards and a campus board set-up. Away from the walls there are free weights, kettlebells, gymnastic rings and cardio machines, and a yoga studio with Vinyasa Flow and Power Vinyasa classes that are included with entry.
A free 90-minute Introduction to Bouldering runs every Tuesday evening for over-16s, with a parent-and-child version on the first and third Fridays, and a monthly footwork and movement clinic. There are also youth camps, a youth semester programme, recreational and competitive youth teams, birthday parties, private coaching, team-building sessions and a six-week Adult Bouldering League. Monthly, three-month and annual members can also climb at the sister gyms The Stack Davis and The Stack Chico.

“From the climbing walls and exercise equipment to the bar and dry sauna, I feel like this gym is a lot of fun… it's nice to get tips from more experienced climbers as a beginner.”
