Saddletowne YMCA is a large community centre in north-east Calgary, between Taradale, Martindale and Saddle Ridge. It shares the Genesis Centre with the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness and a Calgary Public Library branch. Its climbing wall is one of four run by YMCA Calgary, and city-wide members can use all four for free.
Outside Open Climb the wall is mostly used for YMCA programmes. YMCA Calgary runs registered climbing courses for children aged 4 to 14, in age groups from Billy Goats (4 to 5) to Rock Jocks (12 to 14), and a First Ascents course introduces teens and adults aged 15 and over to bouldering, top-roping and knots. Members also get an introductory climbing orientation.
