Mansfield Bouldering Wall is a free public bouldering wall along the base of the Mansfield Sporting Complex, the indoor stadium at the town's Recreation Reserve on Highett Street. Mansfield Shire Council provides it as a free facility for all ages and abilities. The reserve around it is the town's main hub for sport and recreation, with an oval, a swimming pool, netball courts, a children's playground and the skate park right beside the wall.
The wall is 14 metres long and 3 metres high: a vertical face of brown panels with one section that overhangs, a few large grey volumes and rubber matting along its foot. Holds are colour-coded by level, with green for beginners, blue for intermediate climbers and black for advanced problems. A fence separates the climbing area from the skate park's bowl next to it, and above the wall is a large mural of Mansfield's Olympic skateboarder Hayley Wilson.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
- No booking or entry fee: it's a council-run public facility
- Nothing to hire: bring your own climbing shoes and chalk
