Le Rappel du Nord, a volunteer-run club that works to develop climbing across Abitibi-Témiscamingue and make it accessible, manages the climbing wall inside the Centre multisport Fournier on rue Self in Val-d'Or. The wall is 10 metres high with climbing for every level, and there's also a bouldering section, a speed route and a slackline.
Regular sessions run on Monday from 18:00 to 19:30, on Wednesday and Friday from 18:00 to 20:00, and on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 12:00.
First-time visitors can fill in the registration and risk-acceptance forms online before they arrive.
A single entry costs $10, or $5 for children aged 5 to 13, and students get 15% off entries. Ten entries cost $85 for adults and $40 for children, with 20 entries for $150 and 50 for $300. Climbing shoes cost $5 to hire, as does a harness with a belay device. Every climber needs FQME insurance, which costs $25 a year ($20 for those aged 19 and under) and is bought online from the federation. Club members get discounts on sessions and courses, and the club also runs walls in Rouyn-Noranda and Amos.
