Reith im Alpbachtal, Tyrol, Austria
Reith im Alpbachtal has a roped climbing wall in the sports hall of its middle school, the Mittelschule Reith on Sonnbichl. It has about 220 m² of climbing on walls up to 10 metres high, with routes up to 16 metres long, and around 20 routes from UIAA 4 to 9, so it suits climbers of all ages and abilities.
The wall opens for climbing sessions from the beginning of October to the end of April, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and on Sunday afternoons, but not during the school holidays. Climbers who aren't members of the Alpenverein pay a fee for each visit. The Alpbachtal tourist board lists visits as by appointment, so arrange your visit with the wall's contact before you go.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
- The same tourist-board listing also gives €6 as the fee for climbers who aren't Alpenverein members, so check the current price when you arrange your visit
