Fredrikstad, Østfold, Norway
Fredrikstad Klatresenter is Fredrikstad Klatreklubb's indoor rope climbing centre at Tomteveien 25. It opened in 2007 under the name RedPoint, was built with a great deal of volunteer work from club members, and gained a separate children's room in 2014. In 2025 the club also opened a bouldering centre, Fredrikstad Buldresenter, in Gressvik.
To belay with a rope you need a top-rope card or a Brattkort, the national belay certificate. The centre runs three-hour top-rope courses for ages 15 and over, after which you can take the top-rope test, and lead courses for those ready to lead belay. Climbing groups run for ages 6 to 18, plus a youth training group and parent-and-baby climbing on Fridays.
Anyone can climb here: buy a drop-in ticket on arrival, hire whatever equipment you need and fill in the club's liability form. Visit cards are sold to everyone, while monthly and annual cards need club membership. There is some parking outside, buses run from the centre of Fredrikstad, and a ferry crosses from Østsiden.

“After contacting the owner, he was kind enough to send the jacket to me. … So just for the hospitality and kindness alone, I would come back every time :)”
