Boulderlounge is an independent bouldering gym at 15 Cartwright Road in Gympie, set up by local climbers to bring indoor climbing to the town. It opened in 2026 as Gympie's first climbing gym.
About 200 m² of walls, custom built in Australia by Stax, run around the main room, with a mix of angles and features, a cave and a slab, all above Flipp landing mats. The setters put up new problems every week, and visitors have found the grading on the stiff side.
A separate training room holds a 12 × 12 spray wall that works with The Crux app, and a 2024 LED MoonBoard set at 40 degrees.
Climbing Technique Fundamentals sessions run every other Monday, for under-15s in the afternoon and for climbers aged 15 and over in the evening. A coached Ladies Night for women aged 16 and up runs once a month on a Friday, and the gym puts on social nights and small competitions, such as its Halloween bouldering comp.

“Really great vibes. Good coffee and shower. Lots of diverse problems with a nice outdoorsy style.”
“At first glance the climbing area looked a bit small… I found a surprisingly good range of climbs packed into the space. The setting was thoughtful, varied, and refreshingly stiff on the grades.”
“Love the chilled atmosphere and friendly staff. Great variety of routes, catering for beginners all the way to hardcore climbers. Great addition to Gympie”
