Milton Keynes has two Big Rock centres, the Hub in Kingston and Bond in Bletchley, each with bouldering, lead walls and auto-belays, and one membership covers both. About 25 km north, Northampton has The Pinnacle's roped centre in Far Cotton and its bouldering centre at Weston Favell, again on a shared ticket, and The Weedon Project is a community bouldering gym west of the town.

Big Rock Hub opened in Kingston, on the east side of Milton Keynes, in 2010, and is where Big Rock runs most of its instructed sessions, from first-time inductions to learn-to-lead courses. It has a 520 m² bouldering area with a large freestanding boulder and a competition wall, around 170 problems reset every week, and 63 roped lines carrying about 135 routes, with lead walls up to 11 metres, top-ropes and auto-belays.
Big Rock Bond, on the Bond Estate in Bletchley, opened in 2018 and suits climbers who are already signed off, though it has inductions and courses too. It has open-plan bouldering with a freestanding top-out boulder, a cave and a comp wall, more than 100 routes on roped walls up to 10 metres with auto-belays, and four training boards: an adjustable woodie, an adjustable Splatter board, a Moon Board and a circuit board. At both centres you need your own rope, at least 30 metres long, to lead. Both have a café, a gear shop, showers and free parking.
The Pinnacle Climbing Centre in Far Cotton, open since 2010, has more than 200 routes across 70 lines, graded F2 to F8a+, on walls up to 12.5 metres, with a lead wall, slabs, seven auto-belays, a bouldering room and Northampton's only purpose-built indoor caving system. Its sister, The Pinnacle Bouldering Centre inside Weston Favell Shopping Centre, has around 850 m² of bouldering with about 150 problems from V0 to V8+, a 2024 LED MoonBoard, a strength and conditioning gym and two themed kids' rooms joined by a tunnel. A ticket for either covers both on the same day, and adults have social nights and a Winter Bouldering League.
West of Northampton, The Weedon Project is an independent community bouldering gym in the old Royal Ordnance Depot at Weedon Bec, with problems from V0 to V8+ and a Kilter Board.
In October 2026 an adult day at either Big Rock centre cost £14.80, with a £9.30 late-entry rate after 20:30 on weekdays and 18:00 at weekends, and a monthly membership covering both was £64.80. The Pinnacle charged £13.80 a day plus a small registration fee (£2 for the day or £4 for a year), and £60 a month on a three-month minimum. The Weedon Project was £12.80 a day and £50 a month. Under-18s pay roughly £9 to £11.
At Big Rock Hub new climbers start with a 90-minute bouldering and auto-belay induction (£24), which signs you off to climb on your own. The Pinnacle offers a Boulder & Auto Belay Induction (£40) at Far Cotton, a 30-minute Bouldering Induction (£30) at Weston Favell and three-week courses for roped climbing, bouldering and leading. Its RockeeZ kids' clubs run seven days a week in term time for ages 4 to 16, with NICAS progression, and The Weedon Project runs sessions from age 4 that follow the NICAS bouldering syllabus.
For real rock, Leicestershire's Charnwood Forest is within reach for a day: Forest Rock, an old slate quarry near Woodhouse Eaves, has about 45 routes on UKC. The Peak District's gritstone edges are a bigger day out, and Stanage alone has about 1,900 routes, according to the BMC. See also climbing in Oxford, Cambridge and the rest of the United Kingdom.
