Zwevegem, West Flanders, Belgium
Transfo Climbing opened in early October 2025 in the buildings of the former power station on the Transfo heritage site in Zwevegem, after a build that took more than five years. It is part of Blueberry Hill Climbing, which also runs Blackbox Boulder in Kortrijk and Mammoet Boulder in Roeselare, and it covers all three Olympic disciplines: lead, bouldering and speed.
The hall has 1,500 m² of climbing walls up to 16 metres high, with 62 ropes and more than 150 routes from grade 4 to 8b, and new routes go up every week. Six ropes are for lead climbing only, including a continuous lead wall that overhangs by more than six metres, and two serve a standard 15-metre speed wall. Outside, a fully covered boulder of 200 m², up to 4 metres high, has problems from beginner to advanced. A cafeteria with a summer terrace serves drinks and snacks, and the shop sells climbing shoes, clothing and accessories.
You can climb on your own if you hold a KBF climbing-skills certificate (KVB) for indoor top-rope or lead climbing, or can show enough experience. Newcomers can join a one-hour initiation lesson without booking, on Wednesday evenings and weekend afternoons, and carry on climbing once the instructor is happy. Children can climb from 8; top-roping climbers can belay on their own from 14 and lead climbers from 16 with the matching KVB, and younger ones only under a certified adult's supervision. Groups must book. Blueberry Club runs youth training for 8 to 18-year-olds and KVB courses. The two free car parks on the site have electric-car chargers, and buses 30 and 33 from Kortrijk stop about 15 minutes' walk away.
