Malmedy, Liège, Belgium
The Wall opened in 2018 on the Intermills site in Malmedy, the first hall of a small group that has since added a bouldering hall in Verviers. Its name is a nod to the Pink Floyd album. The hall has around 600 m² of climbing on walls up to 12.5 metres high, and there's free parking opposite the cinema.
There's no need to book to climb. First-timers, and anyone who doesn't know the equipment and safety techniques well, must climb with an instructor: introductions and courses are by appointment, so contact the hall in advance. Staff can refuse entry to climbers whose skills seem insufficient. Shoes, harnesses and Grigris can be hired, and passes and memberships also cover The Wall Verviers.
Courses run for all ages, from baby-climbing cycles for two-year-olds and group classes from age six to adult cycles, with camps in the school holidays. The hall also hosts competitions, such as a youth open combining routes, bouldering and speed, and themed evenings. Opening hours change in the school holidays, and the hall closes on Saturdays in summer.

“A fun, sporty activity. The infrastructure is challenging and well maintained. There are changing rooms with showers, ample parking and a bar in the climbing hall.”
