Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
The Ledge is the climbing centre run by Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness, inside the Arena Sports Centre on Western Avenue at the University of Sydney's Camperdown campus. It is open to the public as well as students, with a community price and a slightly cheaper student price, and it is aimed at adult climbers of every level.
The main hall has sculpted, textured walls by Entreprises and Radwall, up to about 8 metres high, with vertical and overhanging sections, aretes, roofs and slabs, climbed on top rope. Upstairs there is a bouldering and training area with finger and campus boards. New climbers get a free safety induction on how the centre's belay systems work, and experienced staff are always on hand to supervise and help.
The Ledge opens on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, from 5pm to 9pm. Casual entry includes harness hire, and climbing shoes and chalk bags can be hired too.
