Bouldering in Hounslow

The Font Hounslow is a bouldering centre in the High Street Quarter on Smithy Lane, opposite Asda. It opened as Hang and became part of The Font, which also runs centres in Wandsworth and Borough. The climbing covers around 5,400 sq ft with a wide range of wall angles, and problems are set for every level, from first-timers to strong boulderers.

Facilities

• Training: training boards and fingerboards alongside the walls.
• Gym: a compact functional fitness area with free weights, cardio machines and squat and bench stations.
• Café and workspace: coffee and food downstairs, with a raised lounge and workspace overlooking the climbing.

Getting started

Climbers aged 16 and over who are new to indoor climbing book an Intro to Bouldering session. Experienced climbers just register online and turn up. There are coached sessions for under-18s and adult climbing tuition, plus weekly socials, including a board night and a women's social. New customers pay a one-off £3.50 registration fee on their first visit.

Getting there

The centre is a short walk from Hounslow East and Hounslow Central on the Piccadilly line, with buses stopping outside, parking nearby and bike racks.
