Bouldering in central Torquay

The Bunker, formerly The Boulder Bunker, is Torquay's first and only dedicated bouldering gym. It is on South Street, a short walk from the town centre and Torre Abbey Sands and on main bus routes. No booking is needed for general climbing: first-timers can book a one-to-one induction, and 14 to 18-year-olds can be signed off to climb on their own.

The climbing

• A bright main hall with a 4.3m bouldering wall and problems from V0 to V6+, reset regularly
• Ladybird and Rainbow circuits for young children and first-timers
• A separate training room with a 45-degree MoonBoard, a lattice board, a systems board, campus rungs, Beastmaker fingerboards, a pegboard, rings, free weights and cardio machines

Facilities

• A café with whole-bean coffee, hot chocolate, protein shakes and snacks, a sofa looking onto the walls and free Wi-Fi
• Toilets, an accessible toilet and a changing room with baby change
• A function room for hire, plus SPLAT HQ paint battles and the Murder at Marwood Manor escape room

Sessions

Coaching includes Fundamentals and Performance classes, youth squads and after-school clubs, Bambinos sessions for under-sixes, home-education clubs, personal training and school and group visits. Thursday is Blue Light night.
