Lokeren, East Flanders, Belgium
Sportcentrum De Dam is a sports centre on the Lokerhoutstraat in Lokeren with a climbing hall alongside its fitness rooms, group classes, badminton courts, indoor ski slope and bar. The hall has bouldering on walls up to 5 metres high above thick mats, and taller walls for roped climbing with routes graded on the French scale. Since 2025 it has also had two auto-belay routes, including one set up for speed climbing with a timer and a stop button at the top.
Bouldering needs no certificate and is open to all ages. For roped climbing you need a partner who holds a valid climbing proficiency certificate (KVB 1 or higher) issued by a club of a recognised federation, and a certificate holder may bring one guest who can climb but not belay. Climbing Team De Dam runs courses for KVB 1 (top rope) and KVB 2 (lead), as well as bouldering and top-rope technique courses. At busy times you can reserve a slot through the centre's member app.
The centre's climbing team trains groups from Minis aged three to Masters over 18, as well as a G-klim group for climbers with disabilities, once or twice a week for a year or a term. Newcomers can book two trial sessions first. The hall hosts a round of the Regional Climbing Youth Cup in June 2027.
