The Climbing Centre is part of the SLS Centre (Spray Lake Sawmills Centre) on Griffin Road, Cochrane's large community sports complex, which also has four ice rinks, a pool, a curling centre and a gym. The centre is a non-profit with charity status, co-owned by the Town of Cochrane and Rocky View County.
The wall is 24 ft high and climbers use its auto-belay system, so you don't need a partner or any belaying skills. Climbing Wall Attendants run the sessions: they clip in children aged 13 and under (or a parent can), and check older climbers before they clip themselves in.
Five-week courses run through the autumn: Intro to Climbing (Kids Rock) for ages 6 to 8 and Intermediate Climbing (Youth Ascent) for ages 9 to 12. The wall can also be booked for climbing birthday parties.
