South Lake Tahoe, California, United States
Ski Run Community Park is a neighbourhood park on a 0.57-acre lot between Spruce Avenue and Willow Avenue, just off Ski Run Boulevard. Local group Friends of Ski Run spent years turning the empty lot into a park, raising more than $200,000 through a matching campaign with the Tahoe Fund and with the support of the City of South Lake Tahoe. It opened to the public on 22 August 2024, and the City's Parks and Recreation Department now lists it among its parks.
For climbers, the draw is a custom bouldering block made by the climbing-wall builder Entre-Prises and intended for climbers of all levels. Its textured grey faces carry bolt-on holds in several colours, and climbers can top out onto its flat summit. It stands on deep wood-chip surfacing rather than padded matting.
The park is free to use and nothing needs booking. The City publishes no opening hours, and the park's amenities don't include gear hire, so bring your own shoes and chalk.
For roped climbing, classes or a day of bad weather, Blue Granite Climbing Gym on Emerald Bay Road is South Lake Tahoe's indoor climbing gym.
