Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
The SFU Climbing Wall is Simon Fraser University's indoor roped wall, on the 100 level of the Lorne Davies Complex, the athletics and recreation building on the Burnaby Mountain campus. It's run by SFU Recreation and is open to SFU students and to the wider community, with programmes for adults, youth and children.
The wall is set up for top-rope and lead climbing and has three auto-belays, so newcomers can climb without a partner, and staff or volunteers are often on hand to belay during drop-in hours. Every climber gets a facility orientation on their first visit, and anyone who wants to belay must pass a free belay check, first on top rope and then for lead.
Drop-in hours are set each term: in autumn 2026 the wall opens on Monday to Thursday evenings, with an extra Tuesday lunchtime session. Community climbers aged 19 and over pay $20 for a day pass, $90 for a 5x pass or $250 to $275 for a term membership, plus tax, and SFU and Fraser International College students pay less. Shoes and a harness can be rented. Children aged 6 to 13 must be supervised by an adult, and the minimum age to belay is 14.
The wall closed for a time during the renovation of the Lorne Davies Complex and has since reopened.

“I went here for a lead comp and the walls were pretty short and slaby. The wall is also inside the type of gym inside a school.”
“Great place, staff are friendly, washrooms are clean. Accessible to uni students and good price for a subscription.”
